Hades II
The sequel keeps the part that mattered: one purchase, nothing else for sale inside, and a real ending about 31 hours in. What changed is the size of what comes after it.
- Is Hades II pay to win?
- No. There is nothing for sale inside the game: no currency, no loot boxes, no paid convenience. A paid expansion, where one exists, is bought once from a store rather than offered to you while playing.
- How long to beat Hades II?
- About 31 hours to reach the ending, based on aggregated player-submitted completion times.

How this rating was reached
Score of 0 by the same reasoning as Hades and Portal: nothing is for sale inside the game, so there is no mechanism through which pressure could exist. Verified on the Steam page 29.08.2026 — the only additional item sold is an optional soundtrack. Hours are medians from the HowLongToBeat polled table rather than the summary block at the top of the page, which uses a different aggregation and shows 32 / 53 / 104. Median over average is the rule on this site wherever the spread is wide, and here it is: 19 h 30 m rushed against 49 h 28 m leisurely on the main story alone. estimatedCostToProgress is null, same as Hades and Portal: there is nothing to progress towards through payment, so the field does not apply. The €28.99 purchase price is named in the page text instead, where it belongs.
The monetization, in full
There is none beyond the purchase. The Steam page sells the game at €28.99 and one other item: an optional soundtrack. No in-app currency, no season pass, no cosmetics store — the same shape as the first Hades, which is on this site as one of the zero-pressure reference points.
That is worth stating plainly because it is now unusual for a game of this size and visibility, not because it is a moral achievement.
The ending is real, and it is not the finish line
Player-submitted times put the main story at a median of 31 hours 26 minutes across 407 reported playthroughs. Full completion sits at a median of 100 hours across 313. Both figures come from the same source, taken on 29 August 2026.
The gap between those two numbers is the thing to understand before starting. This is a roguelike: story arrives in fragments between runs, so the credits are a genuine stopping point that leaves most of the content still ahead of you. That is a design choice, not padding, and it is the same shape as the first game — where the equivalent numbers were about 22 and 92 hours.
What the sequel costs in time compared with the first one
| Hades | Hades II | |
|---|---|---|
| To the first ending | about 22 h | about 31 h |
| To full completion | about 92 h | about 100 h |
| To buy, once | one price | one price |
Half again as long to reach the ending, for the same money and the same absence of anything else to pay for. If you are deciding whether the sequel is worth it, that is the honest comparison — and it is a comparison of hours, because there is no second axis to compare.
One caveat about these hours
They are self-reported by players, so the sample skews towards people who finish games and log them. Someone who bounces off a roguelike does not submit a time. Treat them as the middle of a wide distribution — the same source reports rushed playthroughs at 19 h 30 m and leisurely ones at 49 h 28 m for the main story alone.
